           G Em
When you write
           Bm Bm*
About the boys
                G Em
Under friendly fire,
                 Bm
Dress 'em up in suits
                 G Em
And seek her to kill
                C
Freedom of the will
              Bm Bm*
Ours and yes yours
             G Em
Yesterday today
                Bm C
Are we marching o-o-on?

G A/G C/G D/G C/G D/G G

G
           D/G
Chameleon,
                   C/G
don't paint your skin
                    D/G C/G
To the color of confection
           D/G G
And turn away from every ghost you've been

G
               D/G
And sure enough
            C/G
I saw your head
                          D/G C/G
At the tent sale and fire auction
                    D/G
For a taste and a chaser
                       G B(f)/G
You're a solid gold debaser
                   G C/G
Can you ever be a boy
                    G B(f)/G
Again or have you stopped?
                        C/G
Trade lost hours for a dare
                         D/G
Burn the water, cook the air?

G
      D/G C/G D/G C/G
And 21 is the legal age to kill yourself slowly
      D/G G B(f)/G
But 18 is the legal age to die
                 G C/G
Would I cast my vote
                  G B(f)/G
Into the inside shit
                    C/G D/G
I'm often wont to crawl - that's all

G
                D/G C/G
Don't leave me now to drag my chains
                    D/G C/G
To a rhythm never changing
           D/G G -stop-
Lost from found and beaten down

           G Em
When you write
           Bm Bm*
About the boys
                G Em
Under friendly fire,
                 Bm
Dress 'em up in suits
                 G Em
And seek her to kill
                C
Freedom of the will
              Bm Bm*
Ours and yes yours
             G Em
Yesterday today
                Bm C
Are we marching o-o-on?

note

The verses for this one use the same G-chord formation
up and down the neck (a classic Pollard convention).
Play the D and G strings open throughout the verse.
Playing the low E and A strings during this stretch
are optional - I've tried it with strings 1-6 and 1-4
and it sounds good either way to me.
I tabbed the chords in the verse mostly muting the
E and A strings.
